Suffolk County is established.

General Court divides the Massachusetts Bay Colony into four counties: Suffolk County (which includes Boston and 23 other towns until the boundaries are altered in 1793); Norfolk County; Essex County; and Middlesex County. Suffolk County is dissolved in 1999. Essex and Middlesex County governments are also subsequently dissolved.
